Cécile Desaint

Cécile Desaint was a student at EFC from 2016-17. She is now Video- and Communications Officer at Momkind. Below you can read her testimonial about her time at EFC, and after.
What did you do after EFC?
After my time at the EFC I was so hungry to get out and create documentary films. I went to all sorts of places to shoot: France, The Netherlands and even China. I realized that I needed to learn more and educate myself further, so I attended the bachelor course in Film and Media Science and continued my masters in the same studies. Alongside my studies I interned at production companies and pr firms, and learned that merging both film and written communication could be a very interesting career path. Through my studies I grew as a person, and I read a ton of books that would feed my mind, in order to create things of a higher quality with more profound messages.
What did the EFC experience mean to you?
Attending EFC changed my perspective on many aspects of life fundamentally. Getting the chance to meet people from across the world and learning about different cultures matured me. Being taught filmmaking and executing projects for 8 months also gave me a sense of independence and a courage to continue pursuing my dreams and ideas in whatever way they arose. Having 8 months to myself to dive deep into the world of film, is something that was a profound and enriching experience for me.
In what way is EFC a part of your life today, if any part?
I still keep in contact with people I got to know at EFC and I still use my skillset that I was taught back then to develop and execute on ideas. Working together as a team was also something I learned at EFC and that I use everyday.
In what way is film a part of your life today, if any?
Film plays a great role in my work with creating visual identities for brands and understanding both how to convey a message from video-work and through my written work.
Attending EFC changed my perspective on many aspects of life fundamentally.
