The 1-year film programme

European Film College is for everyone who loves film, and we welcome students from all over the world. Our 1-year film programme teaches you all the basics in professional filmmaking and helps you find your own voice and talents.

Our 9-month film course is one of the world’s most intensive foundation courses in film production. Here, you step directly into a vibrant, international film environment where all instruction takes place in English, and where your daily life revolves around film from morning to night. We combine the best of the Danish folk high school tradition with a high professional standard.

Learning by doing 

The philosophy is simple: You learn best by doing. Therefore, the school functions as an active production house where theory is immediately translated into practice. After only a few weeks at the college, you will be thrown into film production using professional camera, lighting, and sound equipment. During your stay, you will try your hand at at least three different roles on a film crew. This ensures you gain a complete understanding of the entire process—from script and pre-production to shooting and the final edit.

More than just technique 

But you don't just learn technique; you learn to collaborate. You live, eat, and develop ideas together with over 100 other film-loving young people from all over the world. This intense shared experience creates fertile ground for a global network that often lasts a lifetime.

When the year is over, you will leave with a strong personal portfolio of film projects and the self-confidence needed to apply to film schools or start your career in the industry.
