Life at EFC

At EFC, life flows with constant energy and creativity. With our 120 students, passionate teachers, and dedicated principals all living on campus, you experience an intense and vibrant community. Here, the artistic freedom of film school merges with the deep-rooted Danish folk high school tradition of community, democracy, and personal growth. More than 130 people from all over the world live and learn together, forming a place where ideas and friendships flourish. It's an experience that will stay with you forever.

A day at the school

At European Film College, no two days are alike. Some days are filled with classes, workshops, and discussions, while others dive into creative film projects. But what stays constant is the daily rhythm of our community:

Mornings

As the day begins, early risers – our staff and students on duty – prepare for breakfast. By 8 a.m., everyone gathers to share breakfast. Afterwards, we come together for a Morning Assembly, singing a song and sharing ideas before diving into the day’s work.

Mid-day

A mid-morning coffee break keeps the energy up, and by 12:30, it’s time for lunch. After lunch, you might have some free time for yourself or work on your latest project.

Afternoons

Classes, guest lectures, and projects fill the afternoon, with another coffee break around 3 p.m. By 5 p.m., the day’s structured activities wind down, leaving space for you to relax, create, or connect with friends.

Evenings

By 6:30 p.m. dinner brings us together again, and the evenings are often filled with film screenings, events, or simply hanging out with fellow students. It’s a time for conversations to flow and creativity to spark.

Weekends

On weekends, the pace is slower. There are no mandatory classes, just screenings, workshops, and time to explore your interests or take a break. Many stay on campus, creating a cozy atmosphere, while others visit friends and family. Parties, film clubs, and gatherings are common, but respect for the community always comes first.

I gained closer and longer lasting friendships in one year at EFC than I did in my 3 years of uni.
