In this article you can read all the information about how we collect and handle any personal data from you. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
We respect your privacy
1. Introduction
This information is meant to help you understand how we at European Film College collect and process your personal data via our website europeanfilmcollege.com, including any personal data that you may provide when filling out any of our online forms. You can also find information about how we process the data we collect from you via email or phone.
European Film College (EFC) is the data controller, and we are responsible for all the personal data we collect from you.
Our full details are: European Film College, Carl Th. Dreyers Vej 1, 8400 Ebeltoft, +45 86340055, email: info@europeanfilmcollege.com, CVR: 1357000.
We are very committed to protecting your privacy, and we will make sure that any processing of your data is secure and only used for the purpose stated in the forms you fill out, in accordance with the GDPR of May 2018.
It is very important that the personal data that you give us is up to date and accurate. So please let us know at all times if any of your personal information change. You are also welcome to contact us for more information about how your data is stored and handled.
2. The amount of data we collect from you
Depending on the form you fill out, we may collect first name, last name, address, email address, phone number, health information, and CPR number. We may also collect financial information such as bank account information – financial information is always destroyed each time after use. If bank information is stated over the phone by you, we may keep a record of it for stated purposes, but will destroy it after use. Personal information about health etc. will also be deleted after your stay.
You must never hand out your credit card details to us via phone or email, but should only use our secure payment gateway, when registering for a course. You should also never send your CPR-number via email. Should we, however, receive a CPR-number via email, we will transfer it to our secure system if we need it for legal reasons and destroy the email afterwards.
Collecting CPR-numbers is a necessity for Danish folk high schools, when registering Danish citizens at folk high schools. Non-Danish citizens will – when attending our 1-year film foundation programme – be registered with a temporary CPR-number, handed out by the Danish National Register of Persons. The reason that we need to collect CPR-numbers is our obligation to the Danish Ministry of Culture in connection with our state subsidies.
3. How we collect your personal data
You may provide us with personal data by filling out registration forms on our website (registration for summer courses, 1-year programme, Open House etc.) or by communicating with us via post, email, and telephone.
As you use our website, we automatically also collect data about your device (phone, laptop etc.), your browsing activity and search patterns. This data is only used to improve the user experience on our website and to help ensure a good performance on our website. We also use it to improve our marketing and social media content. We collect this data by using cookies, server logs and similar technology.
4. How we use your personal data
We will only use your personal data when legally permitted, or when you have given us permission by filling out a form.
We use your data for the following things:
- Dealing with enquiries from you
- Fulfilling contractual obligations when you register for one of our courses
- Providing you with information about our courses and services (when you have either contacted us directly to make an enquiry or given us your permission to contact you with news and information)
- Sending evaluation forms in order to maintain high quality on our courses
5. Our legal basis for collecting and processing your data
EFC has concluded that the collection and use of your personal data is necessary, both in order to perform a contract with you as a participant on one of our courses, in order to fulfill our legal requirements as a Danish folk high school in connection with our state subsidies, and that it is also our legitimate interest as a company when promoting our brand and our courses.
6. Disclosure of your personal data
We will never pass on your personal data to any third parties outside EFC unless they are operating under our instruction. Such third parties may include email software providers (newsletter software) or survey software (evaluations). EFC will make sure that these providers will always operate in accordance to the GDPR of May 2018.
7. Data security
EFC is obliged by the Danish Ministry of Culture to obtain your personal data indefinitely, but they are kept very secure, and can only be accessed by the few members of staff, who are working with your data, and they have all been trained in handling personal data correctly.
If at any time we are no longer in need of your data, and/or our legal obligation is expired or not present, we will destroy your personal data.
8. Your rights
You have the following rights in connection with your personal data:
- You may at any time request access to the personal data that we have collected about you.
- You may at any time request us to rectify any incorrect data.
- You may object to our processing of your personal data in the interest of our business.
If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, please email us at info@europeanfilmcollege.com – we may need to request further information from you in order to confirm your identity and ensure your right to access the requested data. We may also refuse to comply with your request if it is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive.
9. Third party links
EFC may include links on our website to third party websites, apps or plug-ins. EFC do not control these third-party websites, and we are not responsible for their data processing or privacy policies or statements.
10. Cookies
EFC’s website uses cookies in order to collect data regarding your browser activity (see chapter 3). You can set your browser to refuse all or some cookies. You can also set your browser to alert you when you visit a website that uses cookies. But please be aware that some areas and functions of this website may become inaccessible if you do this.
11. Amendments
This privacy policy was improved and reviewed in November 2020 and will be revisited and amended from time to time.
