For many years Director Christina Rosendahl has been a very important player in the Danish film business. She was a student from 1995-1996.

Christina Rosendahl had her breakthrough in 2002 with the music documentary "Stargazer", which is about her younger sister Pernille, who is fighting to get a record deal with her band, Swan Lee. The film was widely acclaimed.

Christina Rosendahl has worked extensively with the lives of children and young people in her films. Among other things, Christina Rosendahl made her first fictional feature film in 2006, "Triple Dare", which is an honest, funny, and daring story about three girls who challenge each other to do more and more audacious things.

This became proof of Christina’s diversity and her ability to move safely in both fiction and non-fiction.

In 2016, she received the award for best director at the Beijing Film Festival for her film "The Idealist" (2015), which is a political thriller about the journalist Poul Brink's investigation into the Thule case in the 1980s.

In 2024, she received the Robert Award for Best Director for her film "Matters of the Heart", which is a very personal and artistic film that delves into a middle-class family's struggle with alcohol abuse and the toll it takes on the relatives. In "Fuld af kærlighed," Christina Rosendahl draws on her own experiences from growing up in a home where addiction was a part of everyday life. In addition to the award for best director, the film won six other Robert Awards, including for Danish Film of the Year.

Christina Rosendahl often visits European Film College as a guest speaker – and she has also been on the school's board for several years.

About Christina Rosendahl

Christina Rosendahl (1971) has studied Comparative Literature and Film and Media Studies at the University of Copenhagen. In addition to European Film College, she has also studied at the New York Film Academy and the film school Super16.

Christina Rosendahl became the chairwoman of the Danish Film Directors in 2014 and is also an active debater, including on issues of gender equality in the Danish film industry.
