He has shot numerous internationally acclaimed dramas and has been nominated for 2 Emmys, for his work on the hit series Sherlock and HBO's Game of Thrones. He has gained ASC and BSC award nominations and in 2013 got invited to become one of the youngest members of the British Society of Cinematographers. Fabian Wagner says about his stay at the European Film College:

"I had the best time at the EFC. I never learned as much and had as much fun at the same time. Being together with so many same minded people gave me great inspiration and the opportunity to shoot as much as possible. Even though I always knew I wanted to become a cinematographer I studied film history, did some editing and worked in most other departments which was a great experience. I've remained close friends with some of the people I met there and will never forget the time I had there. It gave me a great start to my career".
