Management
Åsa is from Gothenburg, Sweden. She moved to Denmark in 1993 and attended the National Film School in Denmark to become a film editor. She graduated in 1997. Since then she has edited a wide range of both documentary and fiction films. Many of her films have won awards.
Nikolaj has a background as a musician, and has an education from the music conservatory as an electric bass player. He has played in many bands in the styles of postpunkrock, soul, folk and klezmer. He has also worked as a theatre musician, and as composer and arranger. Nikolaj has taught in folk high schools for more than 20 years and came to EFC from Johan Borups Højskole, where he was vice principal since 2015.
Per is our Financial Manager. He is responsible for all the school's finances and business development. He is also the person to contact if you're interested in renting EFC's facilities for conferences, film events etc. Before arriving at EFC, Per worked for more than 20 years as a Financial Manager with IT responsibility; for 17 years in the Pro Audio business and later on at ghd Scandinavia.
Lærere
Asger teaches Sound Design at EFC, and he is from Denmark. Originally with a background in music and composition, Asger graduated with a BA in Sound Design from Sonic College in 2014. Since then he has worked and lived in both Berlin, Los Angeles and Copenhagen - on projects of all kinds and sizes. From Hollywood action films to Belgian news jingles and everything in between. Asger also runs a small sound design company and also on occasion directs short films.
Brigitta teaches Editing at EFC, and she is from Hungary. Brigitta has been working as a film editor for 20 years and an academic teacher for over a decade. She did her BA in editing at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, and her MA at the Norske Film Skolen in Oslo. The first feature she edited, Free Entry, won the Gamechanger award at the SXSW Film Festival, and her most recent documentary project, Too Close, won the Young Europeans Award at FIPADOC, Best Documentary at Astra Film Festival, and the Audience Award and Jury’s Special Award at BIDF.
Halfdan teaches Documentary at EFC, and he is from Denmark, He has directed and produced dozens of documentaries from all over the world. He has been awarded prizes for his film work, in particular in the subjects of Climate Change and Pilgrimage. Until 2020 his playground was at DR -The Danish Broadcast Corporation.
Ivan teaches Screenwriting at EFC, and he is from Budapest, Hungary. He has three feature films to his name as screenwriter all of which were screened and awarded at major European and international festivals and has a fourth feature in development at the Hungarian National Film Institute. Iván has been teaching screenwriting and dramaturgy at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest between 2013 and 2021 and was a Fulbright scholar teaching at San Francisco State University in 2017.
Lars teaches Producing and Production Management, and he is from Canada. He has produced award winning films, including Solitaire, which was nominated for four Genie (Canadian Screen Awards). Lars is also a documentary producer and director. His documentary series Snow Safari has been seen in over 35 countries around the world, and his 4 part documentary series The Industry was glowingly reviewed across Canada. He has also produced music videos and specials, and was at one time the Head of Production for CMT Canada.
Suzanne Popp teaches Lighting for Film at EFC, and she is from Denmark, but lived in the US for many years. Suzanne has worked as a cinematographer in both New York and Denmark, and is a trained cinematographer from the NYU film school. Besides being a trained cinematographer, Suzanne is also a trained Life Coach, works as a councellor for our students, and teaches courses in Creative Development and mindfulness.
Yoram teaches Camera at EFC. He was born & raised in Israel, but did his cinematography studies at the American Film Institute MFA program in Hollywood and has lived in the US up until 2022, where he moved to EFC and Ebeltoft to teach cinematography. Yoram has worked for many years as a cinematographer, shooting narrative features, shorts, documentaries, docudramas, commercials, episodic TV & corporate videos. His work has earned him two Emmy nominations, has aired on TV, and won awards in film festivals.
Zareh teaches directing at EFC. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota, but grew up in Tehran, London, Frankfurt, Paris and New York, and he studied directing at the NYU film school. Zareh’s work screens regularly at festivals and has won numerous awards, including Best Archaeology Short at the 2023 Palenque International Film Festival (Chiapas), Best Short Film (Art & Environment), at the 2024 Bath Archaeo-Heritage Film Festival (Bath, UK), and Best Experimental Film at the 2024 Onirica Film Festival (Carrara, Italy).
Staff
Alexander is head of the kitchen at EFC. He is the overall responsible for the menu, the food budget, purchase, and hiring kitchen staff. Alexander is also in charge of coordinating student activities that involve the kitchen, such as parties, bar managing, and other events.
Anne is in charge of the PR, marketing, and communication at European Film College, including social media (in collaboration with students), website, and internal communication. Anne is also responsible for administration of the students' film courses. She is also working environment representative.
Bine is office and bookkeeping assistant, and besides that she is responsible for helping the students during office hour, topping up their washing cards, taking out cash from their material accounts, handing in budgets for film projects etc. Bine is a maternity cover for Sarah Kirkegaard, our permanent office and bookkeeping assistant.
Caroline was a student at European Film College from 2023-24 and is now employed as a College Assistant for the 2024-25 programme. Caroline assists on all kinds of things at EFC: projectionist and sound technician during lectures and screenings, driving guests, handling equipment, maintaining the library, and assisting teachers in class.
Edith was a student at European Film College from 2023-24 and is now employed as a College Assistant for the 2024-25 programme. Edith assists on all kinds of things at EFC: projectionist and sound technician during lectures and screenings, driving guests, handling equipment, maintaining the library, and assisting teachers in class.
Mette is cleaning assistant at European Film College and helps our two matrons with the daily cleaning of the buildings.
Jacob is the IT & AV Manager at EFC. He is responsible for the running and maintenance of all our AV and IT equipment, and he assist both employees and students with IT related issues. Jacob is also responsible for the maintenance of all the school's editing suites as well as our sound editing stations, in close collaboration with our teachers.
Jan is a chef at EFC. Together with the rest of the kitchen team he prepares all meals for students and employees at European Film College, and he helps make sure that students do their kitchen duties. Jan has been making good food at European Film College since 1994, which means that he recently celebrated his 30-year anniversary.
Jan is one of three caretakers at EFC. Together with the rest of the team, Jan is in charge of maintenance and repairs in all of the school buildings. Jan has been employed at the EFC since 2006.
Lars is one of three caretakers at EFC. Together with the rest of the caretaker team, Michael is in charge of maintenance and repairs in all of the school buildings. Lars is also working environment representative.
Lone is responsible for making sure that our buildings stay clean and welcoming for both students, employees and outside guests. She is also in charge of making sure that students keep their rooms clean and show up for their cleaning duties. Lone has been employed at EFC since 2001.
Maria is a chef at EFC. Together with the rest of the kitchen team she prepares all meals for students and employees at European Film College, and she helps make sure that students do their kitchen duties.
Marianne is bookkeeper at European Film College, and she handles all bookkeeping at the school. She also makes sure that students and other costumers pay on time, and she is in charge of payment of wages in collaboration with our Finance Manager.
Mette is cleaning assistant at European Film College and helps our two matrons with the daily cleaning of the buildings.
Michael is one of three caretakers at EFC. Together with the rest of the team, Michael is in charge of maintenance and repairs in all of the school buildings. Michael also teaches a shop class in the autumn semester, and in the spring, he teaches a course in Production Design.

Olivia was a student at European Film College from 2023-24 and is now employed as a College Assistant for the 2024-25 programme. Olivia assists on all kinds of things at EFC: projectionist and sound technician during lectures and screenings, driving guests, handling equipment, maintaining the library, and assisting teachers in class.
Poul-Erik is in charge of the camera equipment at European Film College. He is in charge of the booking and maintenance of all camera equipment and he also assists in the documentary class. Furthermore, Poul-Erik works with the cinema, where he tests and prepares the films and helps maintain the cinema projector.
Randi is responsible for making sure that our buildings stay clean and welcoming for both students, employees and outside guests. She is also in charge of making sure that students keep their rooms clean and show up for their cleaning duties.
Rikke is the manager of our local cinema, Big Bear Cinema, which is open for the public four days a week and during holidays. Rikke also supports our students in their work with the annual Ebeltoft Film Festival, and she is elected staff representative in the EFC Board.
Sidsel is a chef at EFC. Together with the rest of the kitchen team she prepares all meals for students and employees at European Film College, and she helps make sure that students do their kitchen duties.
Susanne is our Admissions Manager and Student Administrator. She handles all the registrations that we receive for the 1-year programme and for our summer courses, and she assists our students with their residence permits, health care etc. Susanne is also in charge of everything that involves our guest teachers, the EFC Board, our School Council, and our Student Council. Susanne has been employed at European Film College since 1995.
