Former student Joachim Trier to head 2018 Cannes Critics' Week jury

Director and former student Joachim Trier is appointed head of this year's Critic's Week jury at the world's most prestigous film festival.

Joachim Trier, Norway, is the award-winning director of the films 'Reprise', 'Oslo 31 August', 'Louder Than Bombs' and 'Thelma'. He is also a former student at European Film College (1995-96), which makes us proud to share the news that he is to preside over the jury at Cannes Critic's Week 2018.

Cannes Critic's Week is a parallel section of the prestigous Cannes Film Festival, and it focuses on first and second films. Here is what Screen Daily wrote about Joachim Trier's appointment (full article here):

"The jury will award the Nespresso Grand Prize to one of the seven feature films in competition, the Discovery Prize to one of the 10 short films, and for the first time, the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award to an actor or actress from one of the competitionís feature films.

The director, whose Louder Than Bombs competed for the Palme díOr in 2015, is joined on the jury by actress and director Chloë Sevigny, BPM (Beats Per Minute) star Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, Vienna film festival director Eva Sangiorgi and French culture journalist Augustin Trapenard."
