Former student accepted into Magnum


Former EFC student, Jacob Aue Sobol, has been accepted as a full member of the world famous and prestigious Magnum Photos.

After years of hard work, Danish photographer and former EFC student Jacob Aue Sobol has finally been accepted as a full member of Magnum Photos. Magnum is a world renowned and very prestigious photographer collaborative, run by its own members.

To become a member, you have to first be selected for a two-year nominee-membership. After that, you can become an associate member for a year, and then you face the final selection, before you can call yourself a full member.

Jacob Aue Sobol attended the European Film College in 1997/98, and he is the first Danish photographer to ever be accepted as a full member of Magnum Photos.

THIS IS IT: FINAL WEEK
The last week at the EFC for the students was filled with activities. Tuesday was the big official gala premiere where the 17 final films were shown for the very first time in the school cinema Big Bear.

Today the school had a visit from senior vice president at Dolby, San Francisco, Mr Ioan Allen. He flew in to give a seminar to the students about the influence and importance of sound mixing in motion pictures.
GLASS-MATION IS THE LATEST IN ANIMATION
The two glass-mation or flame-action artists Jack McGrath and Mark Elliott just visited the European Film College to present their work with animation, stop motion and glass.

ACCLAIMED SOUND DESIGNER GIVES TWO MASTER CLASSES
Barely landed at the EFC after their Christmas break, the students have their first guest lecturer. Renowned sound designer and composer Kristian Eidnes Andersen (“Antichrist”, “The Hunt”) will be giving two master classes.

BRITISH FILM GURU TEACHES FILM LANGUAGE
Mamoun Hassan, legendary film guru and close friend of the EFC, stayed at the college for two days to give lectures on film language.
ISRAELI SUNDANCE-WINNER AT EUROPEAN FILM COLLEGE
The documentary “5 Broken Cameras” won at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Next week director and writer behind the film, Guy Davidi, will be visiting the European Film College to teach the students.
"AN EDUCATION"-DIRECTOR GIVES WORKSHOP AT THE EFC
This week director Lone Scherfig will be visiting the European Film College with production designer Mette Rio. Together they will teach the students how to ensure a common language on a film set.
