We are happy to announce the appointment of the future principal at European Film College - Mette Damgaard-Sørensen will succeed Søren Høy in August 2010.
Through her career Mette has held various jobs related to film: She was a children's film consultant at The Danish Film Institute, editor at Danish film magazine EKKO, editorial producer and host on TV2's weekly film programme Filmkanylen and she has also worked as reviewer, script consultant and producer at productions companies like Nordisk Film and Zentropa.
She is looking forward to implement and use her experience and network in the future collaboration with employees and students:
"European Film College is a vital and international institution for young film talents mixed with the democratic principles of the folk high school. This mixture ensures the college a unique role in the Danish and international film environment. I look forward to keeping up the development of creativity and the nascent artistic proces - together with my future colleagues. My aim is to have a continuous focus on story and idea development, insight and vision which has been essential for me in my previous career."
Head of the board, Bo Ehrhardt adds:
Formand for højskolens bestyrelse, Bo Ehrhardt, udtaler:
"A change in leadership always involves new energy and dynamics - and it has been of great importance to the board to secure the dynamic atmosphere of the European Film College. When you study film you have to know your film history and at the same time keep abreast of a business in constant change. There has been an increased awareness and respect around the college during the last years and I'm sure Mette will sustain this trend."
Outgoing principal Søren Høy looks back at three rewarding years at EFC:
"I'm sure Mette will be as happy at the college as I have been. It is a challenging and inspiring job, and you simply cannot help committing yourself completely. For this reason it is not only a place you work - you live there. I'm happy to have been part of these last year's progress towards a more modern institution in regards to equipment, international relations and pedagogical focus. EFC has become a creative and globalized playground offering the opportunity to explore all aspects of film - art, craft and industry."
